Hi & welcome!

My name is Irina and this is my new newsletter! I’m very grateful to have you here.

A bit about me

After graduating with a degree in Computer Engineering, I’ve spent the last 10+ years of my life working as a Software Engineer and Technical Lead for various tech companies in Silicon Valley. I am, for all intents and purposes, what people call a techie.

Over the years, I came to the realization that I deeply care about a lot more than just building technology. I care not only about what we build, but how. I also care about the wellbeing and happiness of who builds what we build. 

I self-identify as a practical idealist who believes it is possible to build a workplace that is in alignment of what is right with what is possible. We can and should bring humanity back into the workplace while still building disruptive technology to solve the world’s problems.

I’m an avid reader of anything related to leadership, psychology, personal development, and stories about the human condition, resilience, and humanity.

The idea for this blog came from a desire for sharing and discussing the things that I’m learning with others that share the same interests.

A flavor of what to expect

With each article, I will explore a topic that I’m curious and passionate about, or something that I want to shine light on. It might be an experience that I or others went through, a book I’m reading or simply my brain’s musings about the meaning of things.

I am a female working in Tech, so I will definitely touch upon that too.

At times, the topics might get deep, nuanced and complicated, so brace yourselves 😊 . I might be wrong about some things, but I promise to at least challenge you to consider various perspectives. 

I will do my best to ensure that each article leaves you with practical insights you can apply in your own life, and that everything is grounded in both personal experience as well as research.
