Great incident write up and response, Irina.

I love seeing you use your engineering skills into solve a “business problem” like this.

It shows you really are a caring techie and treat your subscribers with respect and run this newsletter like a business.

Keep at it friend! Mistakes happen. Acknowledging them and working to resolve is what matters. 👏🏼💙

Glad you encouraged me to write it! You were probably among the first people I messaged right after, so thank you for your support.

Unplanned stuff always happens when you least expect it, so "when life gives you lemons, gotta make lemon pie"!

Congratulations to you for your well deserved award. 😅

If I learned anything after so many years of on-call and dealing with crises is that stuff like this is bound to happen and there is always something to laugh about even in tough times.

I love that you used it as a learning experience and how stressful! that comment about 'the caring techie not caring no more' though 😂😭

Great writeup, Irina. It’s easy as users to assume in-app chat is mature functionality, since it’s everywhere. But good reminder that it’s still new for the substack ecosystem, and has its kinks.

I was in the middle of a leadership offsite when I got the flood of notifications :) thankfully it was easy to mute :)

Happy to hear it was easy to mute!!

And yeah, the substack platform has kinks, and just like with any other platforms, it's easy to blame the author, but we're tied to this platform (and its limitation) just as much as the readers.

Thanks for sticking around! 🙏🏻

Thank you for the write-up Irina!

It's really helpful as a "techie" subscriber to know more about how you stayed calm under pressure and managed the chaos for a solution for something that is also so near and dear to you.

Looking forward to reading more soon! ✨
